Douglas County Residents Plan 2nd Tea Party

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JUNE 22, 2009

Grassroots movement continues in Douglasville with anti-tax & spend rally

DOUGLASVILLE — June 22, 2009 — Grassroots activists in Douglas, Carroll, & Paulding will rally for the second time since April’s Tax Day Tea Party outside the Douglas County courthouse on Saturday July 4, 2009, to show their opposition to the federal stimulus bill, and to demonstrate their frustration with big government spending.

Douglasville resident, Geoff Baird, organized the rally to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th outside the Douglas County courthouse located on Hospital Drive in Douglasville.

Saturday’s Independence Day rally will coincide with other rallies taking place simultaneously all over the US as a continuation of the Tax Day Tea Party protests and is intended to let everyday Georgians vent their frustration with the current spending in Congress.

Also working with Mr. Baird will be the Douglas County Republican Women’s Club, Maureen Miller, president. The featured guest speaker at the club’s June meeting was Virginia Galloway with Americans For Prosperity.  Galloway was one of the organizers of the Atlanta Tax Day Tea Party in downtown Atlanta in April that drew a crowd of over 15,000 people.  Galloway, a Paulding County resident, was here in Douglas County to provide training for grassroots organizations so they can properly plan their protests & learn to use the media to effectively get out their message of less taxes and less big government.  State Rep. Bill Hembree and WGKA 920 talk radio host, Joel Aaron, were also featured speakers at June’s meeting.

“It’s time to demand that Washington D.C. abide by the will and intent of the Constitution,” said Baird. “Here, you can take a stand for your God-given inalienable rights without having to suffer downtown Atlanta traffic.”

The Douglasville Independence Day Tea Party being held Saturday July 4th welcomes residents of all political parties who wish to express their frustration with increased taxes & out-of-control Federal spending.  Everyone is encouraged to bring their flags & signs and add their voices to the protest.

The organizers ask that attendees do not single out individual officials but keep their message focused on taxes, big government spending, and the suppression of individual rights & liberties.
