FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 25, 2009
DOUGLASVILLE — August 25, 2009 — Grassroots residents in Douglas County have organized a T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) Party for Labor Day, Monday September 7, 2009, at Clinton Nature Preserve from 6 – 8 PM to encourage residents to gather, listen, and learn about out of control government spending, the national deficit, and health care reform issues.
According to Brenda Bohanan, Douglas County resident and event organizer, “Our elected officials are not listening to our voices. So, by joining together at events like the Labor Day T.E.A. Party, we can increase awareness and participation in our democratic process locally and become more effective in communicating our wishes to those who represent us in Washington.”
Local talk radio show host, Herman Cain of WSB 750, will be the keynote speaker for the event. Cain is a vocal proponent of the Fair Tax and limited government involvement in free enterprise. The event emcee and host will be Joel Aaron of WGKA 920 talk radio and founding member of “We The People REVOLUTION”.
Douglas County residents will also have the opportunity to hear local speakers who will address a variety of issues that impact people’s everyday lives along with meeting several candidates who are running for state and local office in 2010. “This is a great opportunity to get to know those candidates face to face and ask them where they stand on important issues.”, says Maureen Miller, one of the organizers for the event.
“The best way to impact government policy is to act on a local level,” says Maureen Miller. “We hope that everyone will become more involved in the process and attending the Labor Day T.E.A. Party event will be a great way for them to do that.”
The Douglas County T.E.A. Party is organized locally by county residents and is not affiliated with any other group. This is a grassroots event and is solely funded with donations given by Douglas County small business owners and private citizens.
Event location – Clinton Nature Preserve amphitheater on Ephesus Church Road off Post Road in Villa Rica on Monday September 7th from 6 – 8 PM. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets due to limited seating at the facility. Williamson Bros. BBQ, canned drinks, and bottled water will be available for purchase.
