The Douglas County Tea Party was organized on April 15, 2009 when a grassroots group of 75 concerned citizens came together on the county courthouse steps to express their objections to the uncontrolled spending, unfair and punitive taxation, and the increasing size and scope of the federal government.
We are committed to one goal which is the reduction of the size of our government and thus, its spending of ours, our childrens’, and our grandchildrens’ futures.
We are not a political organization. We ask for and accept members from all political parties who share the opinion that government is too big and that it spends too much of our monies.
We believe that all citizens deserve a voice in how they are governed, and we are dedicated to the task of educating them and encouraging them to use that voice!
The Douglas County TEA Party has a zero tolerance policy against violence or bigotry from Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. We expect a standard to be applied equally to all. The values of the Douglas County TEA Party are clearly opposed to the those who choose this path. By the same token, public anger at Congress is legitimate and warranted. Congress is not listening to the American people, their concerns, or their complaints. Violence of any sort will not be tolerated!
The Douglas County TEA Party does not support creating or supporting a third political party. It is NOT the strategy we pursue.
