Who are you?
We are a group of concerned citizens who believe that federal spending is out of control and the size of the federal government is too large. We come from all different political paths, uniting with a common philosophy – personal and economic liberty.
How did you start?
The Douglas County Tea Party was organized on April 15, 2009 when a grassroots group of 75 concerned citizens came together on the County Courthouse steps to express their objections to the uncontrolled spending, unfair and punitive taxation, and the increasing size and scope of the federal government.
What do you hope to accomplish?
We believe that all citizens deserve a voice in how they are governed, and we are dedicated to the task of educating them and encouraging them to use that voice!
Are you connected to any particular political party?
We’re a non-partisan group attempting to restore our country to the principles of our founding fathers. Some of our members may be active in specific parties, but they are not within this organization in that capacity. We, as a group, are tired of both parties and it’s time for politicians to listen, rather than talk.
